The Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Singapore, was established as a post-secondary education institution in 1992 under the Ministry of Education (MOE). ITE is a principal provider of career and technical education and key developer of national occupational skills certification and standards to enhance Singapore’s workforce competitiveness, locally and globally. Under its “One ITE System, Three Colleges” Model of Education and Governance, ITE has three Colleges; ITE College Central, ITE College East and ITE College West.

The ITE Certification System is a framework for accrediting ITE Courses, which is pegged to National Skills Standards validated by the industry. ITE develops skills standards and curriculum relevant to industry needs through its distinct ability to tap on industry expertise in their extensive partnerships and collaborations. Through the internationally-recognized DACUM (Developing A CurriculUM) process, ITE ensures that its graduates are equipped with skills needed by industry. ITE’s collaborations with industry include setting up of Centres of Technology and Centres of Excellence, and joint certifications with industry partners.

Through corporate international collaborations, ITE seeks to widen its linkages for learning and exchange with renowned global institutions. Memoranda of Understanding and strong partnerships has been established with counterparts in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Thailand, UK and USA. ITE’s expertise is widely sought after in developing countries. To date, through its private arm, ITE Education Services (ITEES), ITE has undertaken international consultancy and training projects in 18 countries in Asia, Africa and Middle East.
